:: Description

Crepe bandages, commonly made of cotton, are a woven, elasticated bandage. Crepe bandages are ideal to support the healing of sprains and strains, as they provide good compression to injured areas, as per the PRICE method, but as they’re elastic they don’t prevent joints or muscles from flexing. Cotton also allows the skin to breathe, and these bandages are washable and reusable. Crepe bandages can also be used for dressing retention.

:: Composition

Crepe bandages are made up of 60% of cotton along with 40% polyester and hence can be washed and reused an ample number of times. They are completely odour resistant.

:: Indication

Cast paddings are padded materials used before the application of the cast to protect any joints or protrusions and other pressure points. They prevent irritation, rubbing, and the creation of sores caused by the cast rubbing against or roughly contacting the skin. A crepe bandage provides pressure to a limb or joint. It is used to reduce swelling, relieve pain, and provide support for weak body parts.

:: Advantages

They are stretchable as they are elastic in nature.

They offer great support, insulation in many medical conditions.

They are fit for the use of ankle and wrist injuries, knee pains and also for elbow and arms.

As they expand, they build a localized pressure near the injury and relieve the pain.

Commonly they are used to treat muscle strains and sprains by reducing the flow of blood in that specific area by applying constant pressure and further limiting the swelling to an extent.
