- What is the Quorit range of Advanced Intelligent Bioactive Dressings?
- QuoroSkin: Natural Bovine Collagen Wet Sheet
- QuoroSkin-D: Natural Bovine Collagen Dry Sheet
- QuoroFiber: Natural Bovine Collagen Fiber
- QuoroGel: Collagen Gel with Nano-silver and Vitamin C
- What is the Quorit range of Advanced Intelligent Bioactive Dressings?
Acute and chronic wounds contain matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). These enzymes regulate degradation and deposition of the ECM. When present in excess, MMPs can lead to disorganization of the ECM, disrupt collagen deposition, and prolong wound healing.
Quorit Bioactive Intelligent Dressings (QuoroFiber, QuoroSkin & QuoroSkin-D, QuoroGel) release 100% pure bioactive collagen I. This supports wound healing by binding with and inactivating excessive MMPs.
Quorit Bioactive Intelligent Dressings bind and inactivate MMP’s found in the extracellular matrix. The collagen in the dressing acts as a sacrificial substrate so that the ECM is spared.
- There are other products also available in the market. How are the Quorit Intelligent Bioactive Dressings different from other dressings in the market?
Quorit Bioactive Intelligent Dressings (QuoroFiber, QuoroSkin & QuoroSkin-D) release 100% pure bioactive collagen I, as against most other collagen dressings in the market which have about 90% pure collagen.
This results in quicker inactivation of the MMPs in the wound extracellular matrix, and hence faster tissue regeneration, angiogenesis and re-epithelialization. The result is faster wound healing.
The purity of collagen type I in the Quorit Dressing range is a result of the proprietary manufacturing process of the Quorit dressings.
- The natural fibrous form of QuoroFiber is similar to the structure of our body’s native collagen and also increases the surface area of application, resulting in faster healing compared to competitor collagen particles.
- QuoroSkin is highly effective in treatment of burns and other chronic wound due to its natural unprocessed nature and high purity
- QuoroSkin-D is easy to apply and dissolves into the wound in a few days, so there is no need to remove the dressings
- QuoroGel is the first collagen gel available in the market with nano-silver and vitamin C. This makes it more effective than competitive collagen gels as vitamin C is an essential component for fibroblast production.
- What are the benefits of Quorit Intelligent Bioactive Dressings?
Quorit Bioactive Intelligent dressings support a moist wound healing environment, encourage the deposition of new collagen fibers, support new tissue growth and granulation tissue formation in the wound bed.
Excessive MMP’s in the wound bed can interfere with the normal wound healing process. Quorit Bioactive Intelligent Dressings bind and inactivate MMP’s found in the extracellular matrix. The collagen released by the dressing acts as a sacrificial substrate so that the ECM is spared, and the wound heals faster.
- What are the primary types of wounds in which I can use the Quorit range of Intelligent dressings?
Quorit dressings can be used in a whole host of difficult to treat wounds like Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU), Pressure Ulcers or Bedsores, Venous Ulcers, Ulcers of unknown/mixed aetiology , 1st & 2nd degree Burns, Skin Grafts and other Chronic Wounds.
- I have a patient with a chronic wound. How do I decide which of the Quorit dressings I should use?
Choice of dressing would be primarily depended on assessment of wound bed, specifically wound size. (Quorit Wound Assessment Sheet could be used as reference tool).
- For deep/tunnelling wound QuoroFiber is a preferred option.
- For shallow wounds or superficial wounds or burns one may choose between QuoroSkin/QuoroSkin-D or QuoroGel.
- Some companies promote Bioactive Dressings with antibiotics like Gentamicin, Mupirocin, Metronidazole, etc. Are they effective in managing or preventing infection in the wound?
Since the effectiveness of an antibiotic depends on the bacteria present in the wound, it is advisable that selection of antibiotics should be purely based on culture sensitivity. The antibiotic can be applied in topical, oral or parenteral form depending on the requirements.
Moreover, the effectiveness of a collagen dressing is directly related to its purity, and ability to release maximum amount of collagen into the wound bed. So, addition of antibiotics may actually the healing process. The purity of Quorit dressings is one of the major reasons for their high effectiveness in accelerating wound healing.
Hence, we recommend usage of pure collagen dressings and fibrous collagen particles in combination with separate application of antibiotic based on culture sensitivity, after complete removal of biofilm for maximum results and faster healing.
- Does the addition of antibiotics in any way impact the wound healing abilities of Bioactive Dressings?
The effectiveness of a collagen dressing is directly related to its purity, and ability to release maximum amount of collagen into the wound bed. So addition of antibiotics may actually the healing process.
- After how many days should I change the Quorit Bioactive dressings?
QuoroSkin-D does not need to be changed as it gets completely absorbed into the body.
For QuoroSkin and QuoroFiber, the frequency of dressing change depends completely on the condition of the wound and assessment of the treating medical practitioner.
Some doctors prefer to change the dressing almost every day early on in the wound healing process, depending on the condition of the wound. The frequency is reduced over time and the dressings can be left for 5-7 days without change later on.
We recommend changing the dressings once in 3-5 days early in the wound cycle, and then reducing the frequency to once in 5-7 days later on. But this is just a general suggestion for average wounds – the actual frequency of dressing change depends on many factors including condition of the wound, wound healing stage, and most importantly a proper assessment of the wound and patient condition by an experienced medical practitioner.
Please consult your doctor for proper advice on treatment procedures for your wound.

- I have tried Foam dressings earlier, but I was not satisfied. How is QuoroFoam different from the other foam dressings in the market?
The proprietary 5-layer technology of QuoroFoam allows it to absorb exudate while at the same time maintaining the moisture and thermal balance in the wound area.
QuoroFoam converts the exudate into gel form and holds it in its structure, preventing the exudate from leaking into the peri-wound area.
The inner layer of QuoroFoam is hydrophilic, absorbing excess exudate without allowing the wound bed to dry, while the outer layer is hydrophobic, making it water proof and protecting the wound from external fluids and other contaminants.
- In what types of wounds should I use QuoroFix-T and QuoroFix-N? How should I choose which one to use?
QuoroFix-N and QuoroFix-T can be used in any acute or surgical wound as a primary dressing alternative to traditional gauze-based dressings. QuoroFix dressings can also be used as secondary or fixation dressings in low exudating chronic wounds.
QuoroFix dressings reduce the pain associated with dressing change and prevent maceration of the peri-wound area, as they help maintain the moisture and thermal balance of the wound area due to their high breathability and MVTR.
QuoroFix dressings also provide an excellent barrier to external fluids and other contaminants for protection of the wound. They are highly conformable to the body and so can be used in areas like elbows and other joints where traditional dressings are difficult to apply.
These dressings also have good aesthetic appeal due to their look and construction.
QuoroFix-N is water resistant, while QuoroFix-T is completely waterproof, and is extremely effective and safe for activities like swimming and bathing.
QuoroFix-T is also completely transparent allowing for better monitoring of wound healing process.
- After how much time will I need to change QuoroFoam and QuoroFix adhesive dressings?
QuoroFix dressings are extremely comfortable to wear, and manufactured to be effective over a long period of time.
Under normal circumstances, QuoroFoam and QuoroFix can be worn for upto 5-6 days without the need to change.
But this is just a general suggestion for average wounds – the actual frequency of dressing change depends on many factors including condition of the wound, wound healing stage, and most importantly a proper assessment of the wound and patient condition by an experienced medical practitioner. Please consult your doctor for proper advice for your wound.

- Secondary dressings often stick to the granulation tissue, making the change of dressings painful to the patient and often leading to damage or destruction of newly formed tissue on the wound bed. How can I prevent that?
QuoroMesh wound protection mesh has been specially designed to prevent secondary dressings from sticking to the newly formed granulation tissue on the wound bed.
Use QuoroMesh to prevent this from happening.
- Wound debridement isan essential, and sometimes challenging part of the wound treatment process. Do you have any product to help with wound debridement?
Yes. We understand that mechanical wound debridement can be difficult, with the risk of causing irritation, bleeding, damage to healthy tissue and infection.
To help mitigate these risks, we have developed QuoroClean – a wound debridement pad that eases the easy debridement process for medical practitioners, and allows them to apply consistent and controlled pressure depending on the condition of the wound bed in different areas of the wound. On top of that, it comes in a sterile pack to prevent the risk of infection.
QuoroClean is also part of the Quorit Wound Dressing Kit, which can be used as a single pack for treatment of minor cuts, burns, abrasions and other acute wounds.
- What should I do in case of heavily exudating wounds?
QuoroFoam is ideal to use for moderate to heavily exudating wounds. QuoroFoam is a highly absorbent foam dressing with 5-layer technology that absorbs extra exudate while at the same time maintaining moisture and thermal balance in the wound area and protecting the wound from external fluids and other contaminants.
- How should I prepare the wound bed before applying QuoroFiber or QuoroSkin? Is there anything I need to particularly consider?
- Assess the wound (Use the free Wound Assessment Sheet provided with the QuoroFiber Box)
